About MSUMUN 2008

What is MSUMUN?
Michigan State University Model United Nations (abbreviated to MSUMUN, for breath's sake) is a 3-day Model United Nations conference open to high schools across the continent. Now entering its eighth year, it has built a reputation for exciting, stimulating debate during the day and social, fun evenings. MSUMUN is proud to host students from all levels of experience, from Model UN vets to the newest delegates.

MSUMUN seeks to provide an educational and social opportunity for members to expand their knowledge of international affairs and global politics, including, but not limited to, the activities of the United Nations. Further, MSUMUN staff have the opportunity to share their knowledge by fostering international organization simulations with high schol students.

Who runs MSUMUN?
MSUMUN staff is selected from the diverse body of Michigan State University. Many students are members of James Madison College, MSU's public affairs school, but many also hail from a number of other majors and academic fields including English, Journalism, Political Science, and the Natural Sciences. The Secretariat, committee staff and crisis staff, all apply for positions that they believe that will interest them and that they can perform well in. Many of these students participate in MSU’s International Relations Organization, the university's competitive collegiate Model UN team, giving them a unique perspective and practical experience. From here we draw our motto - MSUMUN is for delegates, by delegates.
