Dear Advisors,
Hello! My name is Harnoor Kaur and I am a Junior at Michigan State University, double majoring in Criminal Justice and Political Science with triple minors in History, Law, Justice and, Public Policy, and Peace and Justice Studies. Along with all of that, I am serving you as the Undersecretary-General of Operations for the Twenty first Session of Michigan State University Model United Nations! I am looking forward to working with you and your delegates this year as the head of the outreach team for MSUMUN! It is my hope and our goal here at MSUMUN to support and better prepare your delegation in the months leading up to our conference.
MSUMUN XXI will be held as an in person conference in 2022, with some limited committee options that run virtually. We want your delegates to have the best experience while attending MSUMUN XXI, and we believe that our outreach program is a great way to achieve that goal. For our outreach program, we will be utilizing our experienced teams that are trained to provide tailored lesson plans that fit the needs of your students; that includes programs ranging from beginner, intermediate, to advanced. This could be in the form of crisis or general committees that we have prepared. Delegates will not have to do all of their research by themselves and we will make accommodations as needed!
Outreach programs this year will run in a unique blend of in-person and virtual. We plan to host one collective outreach each for all schools in and around Detroit at the Detroit Center and one in Grand Rapids at the Secchia Center. This, of course, is subject to CDC and health department guidelines. We are also able to offer personalised classroom visits to your schools if that might be the best fit for your students. Lastly, we also plan on holding a few virtual outreach events for schools that are further away from East Lansing or out of state!
Our outreach team will also be offering lesson plans for Red Cedar Model United Nations X. RCMUN is a great opportunity for the middle schools to begin their Model UN career. If you have any further questions about the conference email the Secretary-General of RCMUN XI, Emily Douponce, at: rcmun@msumun.org.
We will begin accepting requests for outreach on October 1st. If you wish to request an outreach session, for either RCMUN or MSUMUN, please email me at: operations@msumun.org. In your request, please let us know how we can best help your team and the desired dates for the session. We will be offering sessions for RCMUN until the second week of February. For MSUMUN, outreach will be offered until February 28th. Also, if you have any further questions feel free to email me anytime at the address previously mentioned.
The outreach team that will interact with your students will not only teach your delegation valuable skills for the upcoming conference, but we hope to instill in them a passion for Model UN, and a desire to challenge themselves and the world around them. As an organization, we pride ourselves on creating an environment where delegates can develop and strengthen their public speaking, problem solving, and leadership skills. We do this not only so that they will be successful delegates, but in hopes that they will continue to use these skills for the rest of their lives. We look forward to working with your teams!
Sincerely,
Harnoor Kaur
