In order to be eligible for an award, each delegate is required to write and submit a position paper at least 500 words or longer. For GA and Specialized Committees, each topic should be covered in your position paper from the viewpoint of our country. For Crisis Committees, position paper should be written from the viewpoint of the character. Sample position papers can be found below.

This year we are asking for position papers to be emailed to the respective committee email by March 11th if you wish to receive feedback. To be eligible for awards, delegates must submit position papers by March 18th. Please submit your position paper as Microsoft Word Document or a PDF file. DO NOT send your position paper as Apple Pages or Google Documents. All committee e-mail addresses can be found under the Committees tab on our website or in the Background Guide. If you have any committee specific inquiries, feel free to direct those to the committee emails as well. The Chair or Crisis Director will be happy to help!

Position papers are the culmination of your research and preparation for a Model United Nations conference.  At MSUMUN, position papers are required to be eligible for committee awards.

Position papers are reports written by each delegate that will outline their country’s position on the issues to be discussed in their committee or cabinet. Position papers should attempt to answer the following questions: What is the history of the problem? What has the international community done about this problem? What does my country hope to achieve in committee to solve the problem? Who will be willing to help and who will stand in my way to achieve this goal?
