Jillian Riney

Secretary-General (she/her)
Our Secretary-General this year is Jillian Riney. Jillian is a senior studying International Relations, Comparative Cultures and Politics, and Arabic. She’s been a member of MSUMUN and IRO since her freshman year and has served on both Secretariat and E-Board. She’s undergone a long tenure in the MUN community at MSU, from fighting a bus conglomerate (that cannot be named) to spending a year planning a conference that never happened—she knows a thing or two, because she’s seen a thing or two. She is looking forward to overcoming the challenges of this year and putting forth a safe and successful MSUMUN XX for you all.

Emily Hanson

Deputy Secretary-General (she/her)
This year’s Deputy Secretary-General, Emily Hanson, is a junior majoring in Political Theory and International Relations with a minor in Political Economy. Although she did not have the chance to participate in Model United Nations in high school, she began her career as an assistant chair for Tyrannical Tin at MSUMUN XIX and was lucky to serve as Secretary General of RCMUN IX. Aside from MSUMUN, Emily is also an active member of MSU’s travel model UN team, having won an award in Montreal earlier this year. When she--rarely--has a free moment, Emily enjoys debating political theory with anyone that’s willing, reading books she barely understands, cooking, and accidentally ordering 600 t-shirts from Custom Ink. Emily is incredibly excited to work with students and advisors to make MSUMUN XX (finally) happen!
