La Via Campesina: The International Peasant MovementThe world’s largest peasant organization, La Via Campesina brings together millions of peasants, small and medium-sized farmers, landless people, women, and indigenous peoples from across the world. Representing over 180 grassroots organizations from eighty nations, the international movement defends small-scale sustainable agriculture as a way to promote social justice and dignity while opposing the destruction of nature by corporate-driven agriculture. Once every four years, members of this movement meet to discuss some of the most pressing issues faced by farmers and other marginalized groups. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, an increasing global population, and increased pressure on our global food system, the work of La Via Campesina is more important than ever. A select number of organizations will be meeting to discuss pressing issues including food sovereignty, agrarian reform and social change, and the empowerment of rural and indigenous women.

Die Wende 1989: The Reunification of GermanyBerlin - September of 1989: the end of summer draws near and change is in the air. The Soviet Union and its Eastern Bloc has been crumbling for the past few years and the people of East Germany feel that same change coming with the season. Political protests and demonstrations break out in the streets of Leipzig and East Berlin known as the Monday Prayers. The citizens of a divided Germany long for freedom from the repressive grip of the Soviet Union. Both families in the East and West yearn to be reunited, and the ailing economy of the German Democratic Republic is literally crumbling as loyalty to Honecker’s regime begins to waver. It is now time for action and change to sweep across the divided people. It is time for you as the political and economic leaders of both Germanies and the world to act and to help bring Germany and her people into the future together. It is up to you to find equitable solutions to the social, economic, political, and security issues surrounding the unity of these two states. With the issues of Social Integration, Economic Integration, and Security, delegates will represent members of both the East and West German governments, union leaders, members of the press, and foreign politicians who may use their influence as a way to sway votes and dictate policy. The delegates will also be responsible for swiftly resolving immediate scenarios that may occur as a result of their debate or resolutions in order to preserve stability at the heart of the European continent. Go cautiously, but boldly; the world is watching.

Yellowstone: America's First National ParkPresident Grant’s 1872 Act of Dedication created something that had never been seen before, the nation’s first National Park. A unique area, filled with rare wildlife and geothermal activity unmatched anywhere, Yellowstone was thought of as a myth for much of the United State’s history. Westward expansion brought more and more explorer’s and mountain men into the region, and soon these myths had to be accepted as truth. Expedition after expedition brought back reports, paintings, and pictures, and soon Washington was persuaded into protecting the region. However, that protection was only the beginnings of Yellowstone’s problems. Though now protected, Yellowstone had no official administration, employees, or infrastructure. This Board of Directors, consisting of Painters and Photographers, Conservationists and Environmentalists, Ranchers and Rail Magnates, and everything in between, has been brought together to turn this unique park into a gem of the American west.
